I've been experimenting with three of the best calendar systems out there, Airset, 30Boxes and the heavyweight, Google Calendar.

How long does it take to learn how to use an online calendar?

About 10-15 minutes; to sync older calendar or contact information add about 5 minutes more

Which one has the cool factor?

I think that 30Boxes is the coolest; simplest interface, pleasing to the eye and absolutely easy to use; next up would be Google Calendar and then Airset

Which one has the biggest cult following?

This is a tie between 30 Boxes (see Thomas Hawk's review) and Google Calendar although people who use Airset absolutely rave about its flexibility, etc.

Which has the WOW factor?

In all three apps, you can schedule items naturally- instead of entering in multiple clicks for an item's date and location, you simple type in "Admin meeting Tuesday 1:30pm repeat weekly" and it then appears each Tuesday. Nice.

All three email your schedule to you the night before (or have it sent to your phone).

Airset syncs "easily" with your Palm.
