Dwayne Melancon of Genuine Curiosity tagged me with this one: which websites are essential for getting work done?
Essential Work Sites
Gmail. Ok, I'm officially hooked on Gmail and will be sending Yahoo! some flowers to say thank you for several wonderful years. I love the intuitive nature of Gmail and now that I've finally figured out how to block those ads, I'm good to go. (thanks to Legal Andrew for the tip)
Google. When was the last time that I even thought about using another search engine?
Typepad. When I switched from Blogger to Typepad, I had no idea how much I would enjoy the interface and simple nature of the platform.
Survey Gizmo. In my consulting work, SG has been essential. It's the easiest survey software that I know and can be set up in about 10 minutes.
Technorati. It's hard to know that you're making progress with the blog unless you're using Technorati to track things and linking to other folks in the field.
Sites I No Longer Use
Squidoo. While I am a huge fan of Seth Godin, I was disappointed in the setup and overall feel of Squidoo.
Tumblr. While I love the simplicity of Tumblr, very few folks knew it was even on my site so I decided that less is more and nixed it. I may go back to it someday though as I found it helpful for book-marking.
Sites I'm Checking Every Day
My short list includes: Penelope Trunk, Seth Godin, Productivity at Home, LifeHack, Zen Habits and of course the Red Sox home page.
